Each organization has a different cost associated with it. When you pay dues you are often paying a portion of money to your national organization, to your local budget, insurance fees, social fees, and house or parlor fees. Your first semester in a sorority is often going to also include your initiation fee and your badge. If you choose to join a sorority, your fee structure will be presented to you and broken down by expense. Most sororities will be able to offer you a payment plan if you require that. On average, the new-member cost when joining a Formal Panhellenic sorority will be $1,335 for the year. When you move into the sorority house during your second year of membership the average cost including dues, rent and about 15 meals per week is $6,793 per year.
