Our Mission: As one of the top Greek communities in the nation, The Greek Community at Purdue University strives to maintain a balanced life based on our four principles: scholarship, leadership, service, and friendship. These ideals, instilled through The Greek Community, provide members a positive environment that is conducive to personal development that will lead to success later in life. As members of The Greek Community, we strive to attain the highest possible standards of scholarship. We provide a wealth of leadership opportunities to better prepare individuals for life after college. We give back to those who are less fortunate through a multitude of campus, community, and chapter philanthropic events. Finally, we establish a vast social network by introducing people of common ideals and values. The decision to join this community is a lifelong decision, and with that will come lifelong benefits, all with the hopes of preparing individuals to one day become productive and successful members of society. Opportunities Abound: There are many opportunities available for not only incoming freshmen but all students in the fraternity and sorority community. Joining a fraternity is really so much more than the stereotypes you might hear about growing up. Students have countless opportunities to take on leadership positions and use that to supplement their learning in the classroom. There are also many opportunities to give back to the community in many ways, shapes and forms. Many chapters also have study tables and place a strong emphasis on doing well in the classroom. Finally, there are opportunities for lifetime friendships and social networks. Some of your closest friends from college will likely be fraternity brothers or sorority sisters. All in all, the goal of the fraternity and sorority community is to provide opportunities to prepare students for success in life after graduation. Fraternities and sororities offer freshmen the possibility of getting involved right off the ba t in college and you learn valuable skills along the way such as working in a team environment, and communication and time management skills. The best advice we give to potential new members is to look at as many chapters as possible. With 50 chapters and over 3,000 men, we are a part of the second largest fraternity and sorority community in the country, so this task may seem somewhat daunting. We also really encourage potential new members to look at the chapter and national web sites and talk to their friends on campus in order to collect as much information as possible. What it really comes down to is each individual will know if a chapter is the right fit. |
